Diocesan-wide--The Alliance for Life-Missouri is seeking runners and walkers to help run across Missouri before the end of 2011. Funds raised will benefit not only the Alliance but its many affiliates across Missouri. Diocesan-wide--Every adult (age 18 or older) who plans to attend the Rally and March for Life in Washington, DC, in January, must have attended the Virtus adult safe environment training and undergone a background screening PRIOR to Dec. 19, 2011. This is mandatory for adults attending this event. For information about the March, contact Kathleen Keesee, (573) 334-7298 or (573) 986-3320. For information about the safe environment training or background check, contact your parish or Catholic school. Adults who have not been trained or background checked need to log on to www.virtus.org to pre-register and submit their information.
Cape Girardeau--A new Secular Franciscan Order chapter is being formed on the eastern side of the diocese. We meet on the second Saturday of each month in the Healing Arts Conference Room at Saint Francis Medical Center. For more information, call Anita Tygett, (573) 335-1538.
Carthage--Mass in the Extraordinary Form of the Latin Rite will be held each Tue., 7 a.m., in St. Ann Church. For more information call the parish, (417) 358-1841, or Richard Holland, (417) 933-2248.
Doniphan--The pilgrim statue of Our Lady of Fatima is available to travel throughout the diocese. If you are interested in having the statue in your home for one week (Sat.-Sat.) please contact ambassadors Gayle and Sam Ruffino, (573) 255-3693. The only requirement is that the statue be put in a place of honor with a candle.
Springfield--Mass in the Extraordinary Form of the Latin Rite will be held each Tue.-Fri., 12:15 p.m., Saturdays at 9 a.m., and each Sunday, 3 p.m., in St. Agnes Cathedral. Beginning Sun., Nov. 29, Mass will be at 2:30 p.m. rather than 3 p.m. Sacrament of penance available one hour prior to Mass time. Springfield—Holy Family Catholic Home School Apostolate offers Catholic homeschooling families spiritual, social, and academic support, as well as fun, and enriching activities, including weekly adoration, social time, and “Adventures in Learning” for nursery-age through high school. Cape Girardeau--The 2011 Jingle Bell Run/Walk benefiting the Arthritis Foundation is now accepting registrations for its 5K run, one-mile walk, and tot-trot to be held Sat., Dec. 10, 9 a.m., at Fitness Plus. Registration fees: Adults: $25; youth: (ages seven-14) $15; children: for tot-trot (ages six and under) $5. Collegeville, MN--St. John University is accepting applications now through March 19, 2012 for the National Catholic Youth Choir camp and concert tour June 12-27, 2012.
